Common names Indian Pennywort, Coin Plant, Centella asiatica, Mandukaparni
Hindi names ब्राह्मी, इंडियन पेनीवॉर्ट, कॉइन प्लांट, सेंटेला एशियाटिका
Type Thin Stemmed, bushy foliage
Growth pattern Perennial
Exposure to sun Avoid direct sunlight. Prefers bright, indirect sunlight but can tolerate partial shade. If grown outdoors, ensure the plant is kept in a semi-shaded area, protected from harsh, direct sunlight during peak hours, as it can scorch the delicate leaves.
Light  The Indian Pennywort thrives in bright, indirect sunlight, which ensures its leaves remain vibrant and healthy. Place it near a window where it can receive filtered sunlight for 4–6 hours daily. While it can survive in partial shade or low-light indoor environments, prolonged periods without adequate light may cause the leaves to lose their lush green color and result in slower growth or wilting. For indoor settings without natural light, the plant can adapt to fluorescent grow lights. Position the lights about 12–18 inches above the plant and keep them on for 12–16 hours a day to simulate natural conditions.
Soil A mix of loamy soil and compost is ideal for its growth. Can be grown directly on natural soil base on land or in pots.
Watering Thoroughly water the plant. It stays well even in water-logged conditions. It does not have a material fertigation requirement. However, six-monthly feed will help maintain a good growth of the plant.
Pruning Pinch off the affected leaves and propagate when your plant has outgrown the pot size. Brahmi | Indian Pennywort plants multiply fast. Hence keep controlling the proliferation by either by trimming or repotting.
Maintenance level  Low
Purifying qualities  Yes

PLANT TYPE

Sapling

A sapling is a young plant and will come in a smaller size. Why take a sapling? While it is wonderful to watch your little sapling grow, multiply and produce plantlets, take different color variations and forms till it fully matures, some of the saplings require extra care before it hardens and is full grown. While some others are absolutely hands free. If you are ready to give it all the care and love to admire the comparative growth patterns across plants, we suggest you go for a sapling.

Aged

An aged plant will come in a slightly bigger size than a sapling. While we say 'aged', it only means that once a sapling, is now a grown up and would require comparatively less attention than a sapling. If you have the anxiety about going wrong in the process or just cant wait to see a full grown foliage, we recomend you go for an aged plant. Ah ah !! dont get us wrong, age has no bar for plant, they are evergreen, have infinite growth potential and are renewable.
